Switchboard Upgrades

Upgrade your old unsafe switchboard! We install new switchboards that meet today's safety standards so you can rest easy knowing your installation is safe, secure and compliant.

There are many good reasons to upgrade your board (take a look below) and in some cases an upgrade may be mandatory before any other work can be carried out. Whether it's in a house, a shop, or a factory, a modern reliable switchboard is important - so don't wait for something to go wrong and catch you out, upgrade now!

Safety

An old switchboard is an unsafe switchboard. Safety regulations have come a long way since many original switchboards were installed, and for good reason!

Switchboards that still use fuses are unsafe, unreliable, and should be upgraded; and safety switches should be installed to protect you from shocks due to faulty appliances.

If you're a rental provider in Victoria, it's also important that the switchboards in your rental properties are compliant with the government standards, so get in touch with us for an assessment.

Faults / Nuisance Tripping

If your whole house loses power when something goes wrong, or the power goes out when you use the toaster and hairdryer at the same time, you may need to upgrade your switchboard and redistribute circuit loads.

Nuisance tripping happens when the circuits in your installation can't handle a typical load, meaning the circuit breakers and / or safety switches may be undersised for what you need to power.

Appliance faults can also turn off multiple circuits in older switchboards, where the safety switches are protecting multiple circuits. These days it's a good idea to protect each circuit with its own safety switch so that the fault is contained, making the disruption as minimal as possible, and fault finding and repair much easier.

Increased Demand

If you're looking to upgrade your kitchen with a new oven, or want to replace your old stove with an induction cooktop, it's important to make sure that your switchboard can handle the new load.

Any new appliance that you add will increase the amount of electricity that you need, so before you go shopping, get us in to take a look and make sure that you won't be caught off guard by exceeding what your switchboard can handle.

Some common reasons to upgrade the board due to demand are:

  • New induction cooktop
  • New / more heating and cooling (split system installations)
  • House extension
  • EV Charging
